Amy Adams, Rashida Jones Joining Muppet Movie?

No Strings Attached: Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones are on the cusp of teaming up withJason Segel as the human stars of the untitled, upcoming Muppet movie, where Jim Henson’s creations will “reunite to put on a show in order to save a movie studio.” (The story is by Segel and Get Him to the Greek director Nicholas Stoller.) Adams would play Segel’s girlfriend, Cooper would play the greedy villain, and Jones would play an ABC executive. Shooting may start as early as next month. [HR]

The average age of the cast of The Vow got a significant bump on the news that Jessica Lange and Sam Neill would join Rachel McAdams, Scott Speedman, Jessica McNamee, and Channing Tatum. The movie is about “a young woman who loses all recent memory in a car accident” and the attempts by her husband “to win her heart for the second time.” It is “based on a true story.” [Variety]

Phantom Planet: Paul Verhoeven signed on to direct Eternal, a ghost thriller written by Obsessed’s David Loughery. The movie is about “a recovering alcoholic who believes that he’s cheated on his wife — only to discover that the other woman is a ghost who is in pursuit of his soul.” Verhoeven, who hasn’t directed a feature since 2006’s Black Book, has had a prolific couple of months: In August, he signed on to direct the historical drama Hidden Force. Mind Games: Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver will star in Red Lights, a thriller directed by Rodrigo Cortes (Buried). Weaver will play a psychologist “whose study of paranormal activity” leads her to a “world-renowned psychic” played by De Niro. Cortes wrote the script, and shooting is slated for February.
