Soul Singer Solomon Burke Dead at 70

Solomon Burke, the Grammy Award–winning soul singer who wrote “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” and recorded the song “Cry to Me,” later used in Dirty Dancing, died on a plane from Los Angeles to Amsterdam this morning, at age 70. He leaves behind 21 children and 90 grandchildren. At a recent performance, he said: “Loving people is what I do.” [NPR]
