Lucasfilm Denies Reports of New Star Wars Features

Lucasfilm has denied yesterday’s allegedly insider report claiming George Lucas is planning three new Star Wars movies. The supposed scoop came from IESB, whose site is barely even working right now, perhaps owing to traffic, and it claimed the new trilogy would come after the planned 3-D conversion of the six existing Star Wars films. Today, Lucasfilm spokesman Josh Kushins told Wired.com: “This is, of course, completely false. George Lucas has plenty of projects to keep him busy right now — including plenty of Star Wars projects — but there are no new Star Wars feature films planned.” (But he didn’t add, “And never, ever will be!”) IESB is sticking to its anonymously sourced story, claiming the next new features will be sequels: “Can we expect Lucasfilm to confirm our story? Have they ever? Nope,” the site wrote. “I am sure that they will spin this or completely deny the story, but we will stand 100% behind our source.” Nobody else will, but it’s a juicy rumor.
