“When I’m most objective I remembered explaining to HBO what my vision of the show was and I couldn’t use anything that was on TV as an example of what I wanted to do, so I knew it must have been innovative. Every so often I’ll see something on TV and think: ‘That wasn’t on TV before Larry Sanders’ – the single camera, more reality-based, non laugh-tracked comedies seem to be of the Larry Sanders sensibility.”

The Larry Sanders Show is one of the most influential TV comedies ever made. Shows like 30 Rock and Curb Your Enthusiasm probably wouldn’t exist had it not paved the way, and the writers’ list is like a who’s-who of modern comedy: Judd Apatow, Jon Vitti, Paul Simms, John Riggi and so on.
