Fox Developing Comedy from Fockers Guru

Writer/director John Hamburg has no doubt earned most of the many millions he’s made in Hollywood from his work co-writing Ben Stiller’s blockbuster Meet the Parents movie franchise, which returns next month with Little Fockers. We prefer to think of Hamburg, however, as the guy who co-wrote Stiller’s Zoolander and both wrote and directed the very charming Jason Segal-Paul Rudd bromance I Love You, Man. It’s those last two credits that make us a bit more excited to report that Fox has just bought a pilot script for a new TV project from Hamburg and co-writer Ian Helfer. The concept: A father and son, both recently divorced, end their estrangement when they become roommates and hit the singles scene together. The purchase stems from a deal Hamburg signed over the summer to develop a series with Fox sister studio 20th Century Fox TV. The comedy is being exec produced via former News Corp.boss Peter Chernin’s production company.
