IFC today announced a development slate of eight new shows that leans heavily on alt-comedy mainstays (including animated shows from David Wain and the comedy duo Hard ‘N Phirm) but does contain this singular gem: Whisker Wars, “a nonfiction series set in the world of competitive facial hair growing, which profiles a group of men from the National Beard and Mustache Championship in Bend, Oregon, to the World Competition in Norway.” Gene Shalit has clearly found his post-Today vocation.
