My Chemical Romance No Longer Bummed Out by Miley Cyrus, Glee

Gerard Way.

New Jersey–born pop punks My Chemical Romance released their new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, last week — the very same week Kanye West released his beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy, so the band isn’t expecting to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts: “I think it’s almost in the cards for us to be number two,” Gerard Way told the Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve never been number one. We got our ass kicked by Miley Cyrus last time, back when nobody knew who she was. It was [a disappointment] at the time because I felt like we’d worked towards [being number one] and it felt like it was in the cards. We expected it — like, who can beat us? A lip syncing child, that’s who!” Now, the band has chilled out about all that: “Who cares? Somebody once brought up Glee — like, would that bum me out [to be played on Glee]? I say, why get bummed about that? It’s like the radio. I don’t watch the show, but I know it would be funny.” That would be kind of funny, but only if it were their early work. [HR]
