Last night at the 2010 Library Lions Gala, held in the New York Public Library, Vulture caught up with book publisher turned author Sloane Crosley. It’s been a while, but Jodi Picoult’s criticism of the huge reaction to Jonathan Franzen’s Freedom — during which Picoult said, “Yes, the Times favors white male authors” — was still on our mind, so we asked Crosley for her opinion. “I think it’s a massive book. How long has it been since The Corrections? Ten years? That’s part of it. It’s just also a social-commentary book. It’s the subject matter. It’s a great book.” For more celebrities talking literature, click through our Party Lines slideshow.
