Sapphire, the author of Push, which became the movie Precious: Based on the Novel by Sapphire, has sold a second novel to Penguin. It will be her first book since Push, which was published in 1996. Titled The Kid, it will be a sequel of sorts, focusing on Precious’s son “as he approaches manhood — alone, brutalized and with the soul of an artist.” Guess this means Precious didn’t turn out to be much of a mom after all.
