The Event, NBC’s high-concept, supposedly Lost-like new drama, hasn’t done well in ratings. Still, last month, NBC ordered a full season of the show. So how to make people actually watch? At a panel this weekend, members of the show’s ensemble said the series will relaunch in January after its break with a one-hour compilation clip of the first thirteen episodes, so everybody can catch up after hearing buzz about it. The stars think it needs two seasons, though: “This is the type of genre show like 24 and Lost where viewership always picks up in the second season because people go back and watch during the summer or get the DVD,” said Blair Underwood. Just in case The Event is killed in May, though, “producers have prepared short cuts to wrap up the storyline.” Phew. [Hollywood Insider/EW]
