Carrie Underwood Wins More Country Music Awards at Another Country Music Awards Show

This just seems excessive.

Carrie Underwood swept the first-ever American Country Awards this evening with six unwieldy wins (trophies were actual Fender Stratocasters), including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for Play On. Underwood likely experienced a bit of déjà vu at the Fox ceremony, held in Vegas’s MGM Grand, because in April she took home a similar prize when she won Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards held in the same venue. Another success for the popular Underwood is no real surprise, because both shows rely on fans to choose the big winner, and her American Idol run secured her a rabid and vote-happy fan base. More surprising may be the public’s appetite for country music awards programs, because if our math is right, it looks like the ACAs and ACMs share the same venue, unavoidably similar awards categories, a fan-based selection process, and, at least this year, the same overall winner. One of these things seems just like the other. [Fox News, E!]
