Comedy Central Unveils Serious New Logo

What happens when a copyright symbol has a little bit of lipo? You might get something like the new Comedy Central logo, unveiled today in New York. The channel has given the boot to its familiar image of three curvy skyscrapers dwarfing a Comedy Central planet; instead, the new logo (which will launch in January) is made of two letter Cs, one inverted, with the “Central” part of the channel’s name spelled out upside-down. The overall effect is a little more “high-end design magazine” than it is “channel that plays Ghostbusters 2 a lot on weekends,” but if Comedy Central can promise us that a hilarious makeover montage is in the offing, we’re onboard.
