47 Ronin, a Universal Pictures samurai extravaganza long in the pipeline, has become a “priority” “large budget” project, and we know this must be true because it’s being made and released in 3-D, now the hallmark (or curse?) of all American blockbusters. We hadn’t heard much about screenwriter Chris Morgan’s “great, Gladiator-esque, 300-like big action movie with samurai and ninja” since Keanu Reeves was cast to lead this excellent adventure way back in (wait for it) 2008. Ridley Scott protégé Carl Erik Rinsch will direct this, his first feature film, and he’s the decider behind the extra dimensions. We think this is called going big or going home. [/Film]
