Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Delayed Yet Again

Surprising just about no one, the premiere of Julie Taymor’s oft-delayed epic Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark has been pushed back again. Scheduled to open on January 11, it will now open sometime in February, giving Taymor and U2 some time to “make further rewrites to the dialogue and consider adding and cutting scenes and perhaps inserting new music from the composers, U2’s Bono and the Edge, who will resume working full-time on the show in late December.” So, you know, lots of small stuff! Apparently it’s the second act, which departs from the Peter Parker origin story, and which Taymor and Bono are making up more or less from scratch, that’s the real trouble spot. (At least it’s not the broken hands!) Conan and SNL must be tickled to have the new material. [ArtsBeat/NYT]
