Hundreds of Angry Birds Are Flying Toward the Small Screen

Rovio, the Finnish company that created the incredibly popular mobile app “Angry Birds,” is now working on an animated Angry Birds series for TV or the Internet. There’s even been interest from Hollywood in an Angry Birds movie, but Rovio’s CEO said he’s focusing on an animated series for now. “Angry Birds” is already being developed for Wii, Xbox, and PS3, and Mattel is also adapting it into a board game. In case you are not among the millions who have already downloaded the application: The plot follows a group of ornery birds that the user launches via a rubber slingshot to destroy several green pigs who’ve stolen their eggs. With a premise like that — and a following of 50 million — you can see why the bigwigs have come calling. [NYP via Mashable]
