In May of 2009, Katherine Heigl dropped out of Garry Marshall’s Valentine’s Day, his first foray into the burgeoning “put as many movie stars into a rom-com so no one notices it sucks” genre, because she wanted too much money. She wanted $3 million, which was more than cast members like Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway received. And thus, as it is written, “If you ask for more money to appear in a romantic comedy than Julia Roberts did, you’re going to get laughed out of the room,” Heigl got bounced. Fast-forward a year and a half, a bunch of crap movies, and the absence of her Grey’s day job, and Heigl has just agreed to appear in Marshall’s New Year’s Eve. Heigl, who will be taking over for Halle Berry, is to be paired with Bon Jovi (who has prettier hair?) in a movie that also co-stars Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Hilary Swank, Ice Cube, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Josh Duhamel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Abigail Breslin, Seth Meyers, and Jessica Biel.
