Instead of Lethal Weapon 5, Warner Bros. May Just Reboot the Franchise

Another day, another reboot. Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver have hired Will Beal to write a Lethal Weapon movie for an all-new cast. Beal, a former L.A. police officer who patrolled South Central and wrote the novel L.A. Rex, will keep the film “a hard R-rated” buddy-cop story. Meanwhile, Lethal Weapon 5, with a treatment written by original Weapon scribe Shane Black, is still on the shelf at Warner Bros. The plan was once to bring the original team back for a fifth film, but scheduling and Mel Gibson’s public image got in the way. Solution, apparently: Reboot it without him! [Deadline]
