Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann to Reprise Their Knocked Up Roles in Apatow’s Next Movie

There’s been pretty much no info about Judd Apatow’s next movie so far other than a release date — June 1, 2012 — but some interesting info is starting to trickle out. Apparently, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann are going to reprise their roles as married couple Pete and Debbie from Knocked Up. It’s not clear whether or not the movie would be centered on them or just include them somehow, and the studio is claiming that it will somehow not be a Knocked Up spin off despite featuring two of its characters.

It wouldn’t be the first time a character reappeared in an Apatow-related movie — Russell Brand’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall character was the focus of Get Him to the Greek, although Jonah Hill had different roles in each movie.

In any case, it’ll be interesting to see how Rudd and Mann figure into this one.

Update: HitFix asked the man himself, and the movie will indeed center around Pete and Debbie, but it’ll be neither a prequel or a sequel to Knocked Up: “People really responded to their characters and problems. I felt like there was a lot of ground I could explore with them, so we’ll be shooting in July and will come out the following June.”
