The movie business is all about sequels these days (even Piranha 3D is getting one), so it made perfect sense that ABC would follow up last year’s awesome Modern Family Oscars promo with a Part Two in which the gang all (try to) play charades. Sofia Vergara once again shines brightest, this year unsuccessfully trying to figure out Eat Pray Love.
We’ve also got an exclusive look at how another ABC promo was tweaked right before Oscar night. It was the ad that featured clips of the network’s Wednesday comedies, each one illustrating the title of a different Best Picture nominee (The King’s Speech had Mr. Sunshine’s Matthew Perry speaking gobbledygook, etc.). In the original version, Winter’s Bone was paired with the Modern Family moment when Cam’s spandexed crotch was so protuberant that it had to be pixelated out. But the version that made air swapped that out for the MF scene when Claire and Phil are caught having sex by their kids. Guess crotch bulges are only okay in Black Swan spoofs starring Oscar hosts.
