Stephen King’s The Stand Heading to Big Screen

You’d think they’d have already gotten around to it, but Stephen King’s horror novel The Stand is finally being made into a feature-length film. Written in 1978, King’s book is a story of good versus evil in the wake of a deadly virus. George Romero attempted to make a film based on the book in the eighties, and it was made into an ABC miniseries in 1994. The film has yet to take shape — writers and producers are meeting in the coming weeks to hammer out the adaptation. Dozens of films, television shows, and comic books have been based on King’s work. Also in production right now: a remake of King’s It. [HR]
