Katy Perry’s Mother Thinks Her Daughter Should Give Faith-Healing a Try

Katy Perry’s Christian upbringing and Christian-pop past have been well established, but more details are forthcoming: Katy Perry’s mom, Mary Perry, is shopping around a book about her conflicted relationship with her daughter’s success. The New York Post got a copy of the book proposal, where Perry Sr. writes, “I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, ‘I kissed a girl, and I liked it,’ while thousands joined her.” Also, Mary’s still holding out hope that Katy ends up “a Kathryn Kuhlman” — an evangelist and faith-healer who died in the seventies — “type of healer.” You know what? Vulture really wouldn’t mind seeing that happen either. [Page Six/NYP]
