Macy’s Agrees to Free Advertising, Okays Movie About Thanksgiving Day Parade

A team of producers has signed a deal with Macy’s for the rights to make a movie about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In the department of very small favors, this film is not being envisioned as one of those holiday-set ensemble rom-coms (like Valentine’s Day, or the forthcoming New Year’s Eve), but as a “four-quadrant, family-friendly film somewhere in that Night At The Museum, Elf sweet spot.” Though Macy’s is “always searching for the next Miracle on 34th Street,” the company often turns down movies looking to work with the store (Elf included). But it apparently does not turn down movies that could conceivably feature a Macy’s logo in every frame. [Heat Vision/HR]
