NBC is finally giving Paul Reiser’s long-gestating sitcom a chance at bat. The network says The Paul Reiser Show will debut Thursday, April 14 at 8:30 p.m., taking the place of modestly rated mid-season replacement series Perfect Couples. Six episodes of the show were produced, but the short amount of time between the scheduling of Reiser’s series and its actual debut will give the Peacock’s hypemeisters precious little time to mount a marketing campaign for the show. (By contrast, ABC has been promoting the upcoming Body of Proof since January.) Most likely, new NBC chief Bob Greenblatt (who had nothing to do with the production of the Reiser series) decided that a veteran talent such as Reiser deserved at least a shot on air before the network announces its new fall schedule in mid-May. Still no word on premiere dates for Love Bites or Friends With Benefits.
