Cannes Competition Lineup Announced: Almodóvar, von Trier, Miike …

The full competition lineup for the Cannes Film Festival has been released and — along with the previously announced, much-anticipated presence of Terrence Malick’s Tree of LIfe — we get: Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, Takashi Miike’s Hara-kiri: Death of a Samurai, Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive (starring Ryan Gosling as a stunt/getaway driver), Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin (starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly as parents of a child who commits a school shooting), and fourteen others. And of those fourteen, only one, unfortunately (Maiwenn’s Polisse) stars French rapper Joey Starr. See the whole lineup, right down here.
