Hailee Steinfeld Falls for Romeo and Juliet

Hailee Steinfeld would like all your literary heroines, please. After her star-making role in True Grit, the young actress attached herself to a new spin on Sleeping Beauty (after losing out on the lead in The Hunger Games), and now she’s in talks to join Romeo and Juliet, scripted by Gosford Park’s Julian Fellowes and based on the explosive, CGI-packed classic by Roland Emmerich (or something). When they say the roles for women have gotten worse, they’re not kidding; at this rate, it’s unclear when Steinfeld will make a movie that’s even set in the last century. Has any American actress flirted with so many period costumes so soon? [HR]
