This season of American Idol is a boring lovefest, and when the judges aren’t overly praising the contestants, they’re overly praising each other. Back before Fox made the official announcement that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez were joining the judging panel, the two of them had a super-secret dinner with Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest. And it was a treat! Quoth Seacrest, “Steven tells Jennifer that he just watched The Back-up Plan and thought she was brilliant in it. Jennifer says, ‘Is that the reason you want to sit beside me on Idol? The Back-up Plan?’ And we all laughed. The next day we announced it.” Wow, Steven really does like everything. [HR]
