Rowan Joffe Is Writing the WikiLeaks Movie for HBO and BBC

Remember WikiLeaks? Rowan Joffe, who wrote both The American and 28 Weeks Later, has signed on to write a new WikiLeaks movie for HBO and the BBC. The film will reportedly focus on the creation myth of WikiLeaks itself, rather than on Assange. So far, everyone signed on to the project has a rather impressive résumé. Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) is producing, and Charles Ferguson (Inside Job) will direct. News of the film first broke in March, when Dreamworks purchased the rights to two books on WikiLeaks: Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website, by former WikiLeaks exec Daniel Domscheit-Berg; and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy, by David Leigh and Luke Harding.
