Warren Beatty Breaks Ten-Year Hiatus to Return to Movies

When Warren Beatty recently held on to the big-screen rights to Dick Tracy by claiming that he had a sequel in mind, pundits scoffed at his empty promise: After all, Beatty has all but retired from moviemaking, and hasn’t acted or directed since his 2001 flop Town and Country. Perhaps they spoke too soon, though, since Deadline reports that Beatty has scripted a new project that he’ll direct and star in for Paramount later this year. It still isn’t the Dick Tracy sequel, and no additional details are known about the film, but Paramount chairman Brad Grey said in a statement, “Warren’s script is quintessential Beatty, elegantly written and wonderfully entertaining.” If Mya records the theme song, we’re definitely cool with this.
