Regarding the madcap incident in which the 71-year-old Alex Trebek chased down a thief in his hotel in the dark of night, snapping his Achilles tendon in the process: The thief in question has been put under a restraining order. Lucinda Moyers, 56, who attempted to make off with cash plus a bracelet given to Trebek by his mother, has been apprehended and ordered to stay 150 feet away from the Canadian game-show host and his wife at all times. She’s also been charged with felony burglary and possession of stolen property.
Trebek, who TMZ is now calling “the greatest Canadian who ever lived,” told the Today show the whole story today.
“I realized immediately that someone had been in the room, and I put on my underwear and ran down the hall to see if I could find her…She came out of the middle room where the ice machine is, and I said, ‘What were you doing in our room?’ She said, ‘I wasn’t in your room,’ so I said, ‘What were you doing?’ She said, ‘I was visiting friends.’ I said, ‘No you weren’t.’”
Then he gave chase, injuring himself but cementing his status as a modern-day folk hero. Which is great, but clearly the most important thing is that we now know that Alex Trebek sleeps in the nude.
