Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Breaks Yet Another Record

Take that, Edward Cullen!

After walloping the previous record for biggest midnight screening with a $43.5 million take, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 locked in the biggest opening-day gross on record, pulling in $92.1 million. That’s $20 million more than previous top slot The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which incidentally had also held the record for biggest midnight debut. Looks like the final installation in the Harry Potter mega-billions franchise is on track to dominate that other early popularity gauge: opening-weekend ticket sales. For that title, it’s up against 2008’s The Dark Knight, which raked in $158.4 billion million during it’s opening weekend. [AP]
