Jay-Z and Kanye West Will Take Watch the Throne On the Road

Announced via press release this morning: actual tour dates in support of Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne. The tour, posted in full below, kicks off in Detroit in September and wraps up in Boston, and bounces around the country in between. (The only New York–area dates are in New Jersey, though, so it wouldn’t be shocking if an MSG night — or some other, more secretive New York City event — goes down as part of this.) It’s a bit surprising that a full-fledged arena tour has been assembled, mostly because for a while it looked like Watch the Throne was going to be something the two whipped together between sessions for their own respective projects. At some point, though, it became clear that Jay and Kanye were taking the responsibility of a joint album seriously and have admiringly rolled up the sleeves on it. Equally as notable: Apparently, as a duo, Jay and Kanye will be known as the Throne. And right now in south Florida, an aspiring stoner-metal band is all like, “Ah, guys, come on, now we gotta pick a whole new name.”
