John Cusack is set to star in The Paperboy, Lee Daniels’s adaptation of the 1995 Pete Dexter novel of the same name, according to Variety. Cusack replaces Tobey Maguire, who dropped out due to a scheduling conflict with The Great Gatsby. The movie centers on brothers who investigate the possibly wrongful conviction of a man on death row, played by Cusack. Paperboy also stars Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. The coming Cusack/Efron friendship seems like it’ll make for some fun interviews, if nothing else. [Variety]
