Popular American Idol alumna Pia Toscano has officially signed a record deal with Interscope Records, her mentor Jimmy Iovine’s label, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Toscano’s debut single, “This Time,” will drop July 12. The song, “an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track,” will probably be pretty good, as it’s written by Esther Dean, the woman behind Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and the unassailable “What’s My Name.” [IdolWorship/THR]
