Two years ago we set Vulture’s crack team of Nobel Prize–winning pop-culture mathematicians to work ranking the Harry Potter films from endless snooze to contemporary classic. They took into account a number of factors: How much does Ron ham it up, and how adorable is Hermione? How scary is the villain? How many Mike Leigh regulars appear in the cast? What’s the Snape-to-Hagrid ratio? Is Dobby in it? But that was before David Yates’s two-film epic, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts one and two. With the Potter series at an end, we rewatched all seven films — and experienced the latest, and last of them — and re-ranked the movies for posterity. Wingardium listiosa!
