Huh. The Academy has announced the two men who will be producing the next Oscar ceremony, and while one of the names is an awards-show veteran — Don Mischer, who produced and directed this year’s poorly received Anne Hathaway–James Franco team-up — the other is not: Brett Ratner, director of the upcoming Tower Heist. “Making movies has been my dream since childhood, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have made several, but the Oscar show is in a league of its own,” said Ratner in a press release, which included a biography of the director that oddly omitted his credits on Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand but made sure to note that he has produced documentaries about Woody Allen, John Cazale, and Helmut Newton. Someone’s gettin’ respectable!
