Yeah, They’re Remaking Flatliners

Flatliners.

Deadline reports that Sony has hired Source Code writer Ben Ripley to draft a new version of Joel Schumacher’s 1990 supernatural thriller Flatliners, though at this point there’s no other talent attached to the project. The original film starred voluminously coiffed actors like Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, and Julia Roberts (in fact, it was her first follow-up to Pretty Woman) in the story of five med students who try to experience clinical death for one minute, in order to check out the afterlife. (Which sounds rad, but then they have to deal with, like, guilt and stuff.) In any case, at least it’s an appropriate movie property for studio executives to ruthlessly revive. [Deadline]
