James Franco Flies Away From Sweet Bird of Youth

James Franco.

It was all set to be this fall’s big buzz play: a revival of the Tennessee Williams classic Sweet Bird of Youth, toplined by James Franco and Nicole Kidman, and produced by Scott Rudin. Alas, the New York Times reports that Franco is no longer attached to the project, and the play won’t premiere this fall as planned since Rudin is focused on producing another starry Broadway show, the Death of a Salesman revival starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield. If anyone has two dozen projects that Franco can now fit into that free window of time, please contact his representation. [ArtsBeat/NYT]
