Lil Wayne and Drake Try to Take Attention Away From That Other Rapping Duo

With everyone you know still obsessing over Watch the Throne, the YMCMB team now attempts to change the subject. And the new topic of conversation? Lil Wayne and Drake, of course, Vulture’s No. 7 bestest hip-hop friends. With both pushing imminent solo albums (Tha Carter IV and Take Care, respectively), their pal Birdman gave an interview to XXL promising that the long-rumored WTT-style collabo album is still very much in the works. (“It’s older versus younger,” Birdman helpfully explicates. “I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game.”) And, even more to the point, Wayne has dropped his new, Drake-boosted single, “She Will.” A crackling ode-to-a-lady, it walks the line between radio-ready (Drizzy is providing a hook, after all) and street-hard quite nicely. Consulting the also-just-released track list, that means we now have five — “She Will,” “Nightmares of the Bottom,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “John,” and “How to Love” — of the album’s fifteen tracks. Meaning: This thing might actually come out at the end of the month, as it is currently scheduled to do!
