Rise of the Planet of the Apes Bests The Help, Everything Else at Box Office

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

It looks like a lot of people wanted in on the catchphrase of the summer: Rise of the Planet of the Apes held its box-office grip for a second straight week, grossing $27.5 million to bring its domestic total to $104.9 million. The Help and its many commodes earned a respectable opening-weekend sum of $25.5 million, most of which was reportedly forked over by females over the age of 35, especially ones who go to this particular theater in Jackson, Mississippi, where the movie is set. The fifth of the planned 1,427 Final Destination movies came in third with $18.4 million, while 30 Minutes or Less took home a lackluster $13 million. Lastly, Glee: The 3-D Concert Movie was seen by enough people to earn $5.7 million, rounding out the top five eleven. [Company Town/LAT]
