Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph to (Fake) Sing at Emmys

Rudolph and Samberg in ‘07.

Samberg’s the Lonely Island — creator of such timeless classics as “Dick in a Box” and “I’m on a Boat” — will be performing at tonight’s Emmys, the Hollywood Reporter has learned, and will be joined onstage by several other faux-singing heavyweights. Lending her pitch-crazy voice to the medley will be Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph, whose histrionic vocals were on display in last week’s Up All Night pilot. (Vulture’s own Margaret Lyons has put together an homage to Rudolph’s incredible pitch range.) Also slated to appear is The Office’s Ed Helms, whose “Stu’s Song” in The Hangover is nothing short of a masterpiece. If nothing else about the Emmys attracts you — not the endless parade of wardrobe malfunctions and TV shows you’ve never watched — then this should do the trick nicely. [THR]
