Fans of Futurama’s second life on Comedy Central have been pleasantly surprised that the animation has been able to remain so lush on a basic-cable budget. Well, in the sci-fi comedy’s season finale (Thursday night, 10 p.m.), Futurama flexes its cartoon muscles in a different way with a special episode that reimagines the show in three wildly different animated styles: classic “Steamboat Willie”–esque black-and-white, anime, and with the feel of an eighties video game. Vulture has an exclusive advance peek at three frames of the “classic” scene, so click and get ready to see yesterday’s animation tomorrow! Or is that vice versa?
