Interns Sue Black Swan for Making Them Do Intern Things

’Black Swan.’

Aside from the well-cared-for interns at Vulture (who read Proust during their lunch breaks, eat magazine-provided caviar, and regularly engage in loaded sexual banter with visiting, surprisingly willing celebrities), it is common knowledge that being an unpaid intern sucks. At least, it’s common knowledge for everyone but Alex Footman and Eric Glatt, who are suing Fox Searchlight for their supposedly stultifying experience as unpaid interns while Black Swan was in production. Footman complains that Fox failed to give him any duties beyond “preparing coffee for the production office, ensuring that the coffee pot was full, taking and distributing lunch orders for the production staff, taking out the trash and cleaning the office.” (Scott Rudin is laughing right now at these “indignities,” so hard.) A peeved Footman, who is seeking other interns to sign onto his class-action lawsuit, noted, “The only thing I learned on this internship was to be more picky in choosing employment opportunities.” That, and how Natalie Portman likes her coffee, we’re betting.
