In an interview with ShortList, Justin confirmed what observers have suspected ever since he did Alpha Dog: His acting career takes precedence over his musical one. Despite recent surprise performances and his assertion earlier this week that he is “not trying to be a serious actor, you fuckers,” he admitted that “[his] plan would have probably been to do another record, probably right about now” were it not for all his movie commitments. But don’t start thinking that means he has any Serious Goals in mind: “All the movies I’ve done were just opportunities that came up, but now that they’re all coming out back-to-back, people think, ‘Oh, he’s trying to make a statement by having an acting career.’ But it’s not like that for me.” Apparently, nothing is! He went on to explain that while he doesn’t intend to quit recording, he “never cared about being taken seriously as a musician,” adding: “I do pop music. I’m not saving the world.” So, “4 Minutes” was all just a big lie? [ShortList via Idolator]
