After an emergency throat surgery back in July, the future of the R. Kelly’s singing career was uncertain at best. Then came a slightly creepy video from the man himself, rocking a SARS mask and coughing repeatedly, in which Kelly promised he’d be back in the studio soon. The update didn’t exactly reassure his fans, but maybe (in this case, anyway) Kelly is a man of his word? Speaking to 107.5 WGCI’s “The Morning Riot” yesterday, Kelly announced that a new album is forthcoming — though how much of it was recorded pre-tonsil troubles is unclear. Still, before you worry too much about Robert, consider the new album’s title: Black Panties. Yeah, R. Kelly is healing just fine. [PopDust]
