It’s official: Carrie Bradshaw will, in fact, rise again. As was rumored in August, the CW has decided to take on Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries, which will chronicle the high school years of Candace Bushnell’s alter-ego. And, as was rumored, Gossip Girl’s Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are producing, while former SATC/current GG writer Amy Harris will be responsible for the script. (Sarah Jessica Parker and Darren Star aren’t attached to the project, at least so far.) But don’t worry about overlap: As it turns out, Carrie grew up in a small New England town, where teenagers are totally different from those in New York City. And then there’s this: “[The deal] will allow the writers of a Carrie’s Diaries series to incorporate characters, traits and developments introduced on the Sex and the City series along with the core source material, Bushnell’s book [of the same name.]” Does that mean a recurring role for David Duchovny?
