Two years ago, Stephen King abruptly polled his fans online to find out whether they’d prefer him to write a sequel to The Shining or another side story in his The Dark Tower franchise; after they reacted with a pretty uniform “Wow, The Shining, we guess,” it appears he’s followed through on their advice. King appeared at George Mason University this past weekend to read an excerpt from the brand-new Shining sequel, entitled Dr. Sleep, which follows a now-40-year-old Danny Torrance as he helps elderly patients pass away at a hospice while fending off psychic vampires. Which other King characters are ripe for an eccentric “where are they now” update? (Imagine the havoc Christine could wreak if she went hybrid!) [/Film]
