Big Love Creators Are Developing a Show About Robots

Rosie from The Jetsons knows what’s up.

Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, the creators and executive producers of Big Love, are developing another show for HBO in that similar weird-family vein, though this time going weirder: China Doll (oy) is about an interracial family and their humanoid robot. According to Deadline, the show tells the story of “a successful California construction subcontractor, his Asian American wife who is a university professor, and a robot as they straddle both sides of the Pacific with extended families on two continents.” Schaffer insists the show isn’t a sci-fi series (honey, it barely sounds like a Syfy series), and Olsen says that it’s “about China, Chinese Americans, robots, the effect of technology on our lives and the China moment in American consciousness.” Robots! The show is about robots. [Deadline]
