NBC is developing a comedy series based on 2010’s The Infidel, a British movie about a devout Muslim who learns that he was actually born Jewish. The film’s star Omid Djalili has been working on developing an NBC show for years, but only now is America ready to handle an Iranian guy on TV, apparently. No word on whether Richard Schiff will reprise his role as the Jewish mentor-slash-cabbie, so there’s still time for him to re-interpret the role and play it exactly like Toby from The West Wing. “I’m storming out of my cab in anger at an injustice in the American political system!” The thing writes itself.
