Kristen Wiig has been dealing with two big rumors this season — she’s leaving Saturday Night Live after this year and won’t make a sequel to Bridesmaids — that should only intensify now that she’s picked her next project. FilmNation announced today that Wiig will join Robert De Niro in the Sean Penn–directed The Comedian, where she’ll play a free spirit who meets an over-the-hill TV comic (De Niro) who’s stuck doing community service. Not a bad group of guys for Wiig to be working with, but since there’s an unavoidable tie here to De Niro’s past work on The King of Comedy, is there anywhere we can fit in Sandra Bernhard, too?
