Charlie Day Helps Garner SNL’s Best Ratings in More Than a Month

If only Charlie Kelly possessed the ability to read this. The November 5 SNL, hosted by It’s Always Sunny and Horrible Bosses star Charlie Day, drew the best ratings for the show since Melissa McCarthy’s October 1 hosting gig. With some assistance from musical guest Maroon 5, the episode averaged a 4.9 rating/11 share and, more importantly, a 2.8/1 for adults 18-49, its best since last season’s Justin Timberlake-hosted finale. The show featured some pointed satire of the Kardashian divorce, in addition to Day as a manic homicide cop in the apartment from Seinfeld. Now, granted, SNL was on hiatus for two weeks in October, so the episode only really beat the ratings for the Ben Stiller and Anna Faris–hosted shows. But certainly some celebratory glue and cat food are deserved. [THR]
